Anniversary Celebration at Sidecar and Broadway 10

November 21, 2015

Ok, so this post is a little late. Like…3 months late. But after Jamie and I’s anniversary, I ran off to Boston and Vegas and this post slipped my mind. But just in time for the holiday season, I wanted to tell you about two wonderful gems in Automobile Alley in Oklahoma City that are the perfect pair for dinner and drinks with your beau.sidecar-auto-alley-okcsidecar-bar-okcThe Christmas lights are twinkling this time of the year, so park down on Broadway and give yourself enough time to stroll around and snap a few pics. Then, duck into Sidecar for a cozy couple of drinks before your dinner at Broadway 10 (Fellas, make your dinner reservations over on OpenTable).

If you’re whiskey inclined, you can’t beat the Old “Smokey” Rye Fashion. It’s made by inverting the glass over lit cedar to infuse your drink with a smokey flavor.

If you’re like me and prefer something with a little less bite, then the namesake Sidecar is the way to go. It’s tangy and served in a sugared martini glass.sidecar-okcWe had to duck in an out quickly to make our reservation at Broadway 10, so pardon the lack of pictures! It’s a quick minute walk across the street for dinner.broadway-10-okcI absolutely adore the interior at Broadway 10. It has a very big city feel, and the floor to ceiling windows fill the restaurant with light during the day, and give you a wonderful view of Automobile Alley’s neon lights in the evening. The seats are also big and plush, which is a plus.broadway-10When the waitress found out it was our anniversary, she insisted on snapping a picture of us, which was delivered with a Happy Anniversary note at the end of the meal. I thought this was a really nice touch. But enough of my descriptions. I know you came here for pictures of food.

We started with the Charcuterie plate. If you haven’t figured it out by now, I’m an absolute cheese freak. Mild, stinky, bleu, Brie, or otherwise, I love them all. This is one of the best meat and cheese plates you will find in the entire city. It’s also reasonably priced for the quality you get. While I loved everything I tried here, I have to say this was the highlight of the meal.charcuterie-broadway-10If you’re a wino, you’ll be happy with the massive wine list at Broadway 10. It’s not cheap, but they have a huge variety.broadway-10-wineFor a main dish, I ordered an aged primal cut ribeye with the smoked gouda mash on the recommendation of our waiter. Mashed potatoes are one of my top 5 favorite foods, and these are some damn good potatoes. All of their Primal Cuts also come with a choice of sauce. I went with the classic Bearnaise, but they also have Peppercorn, B10 Steak Sauce, Red Wine Shallot, and others.ribeye-broadway-10broadway-10-steakJamie ordered the rack of lamb, which was topped with a blackberry glaze and paired with mac and cheese. I’m a sucker for anything served in these cute little dishes.lamb-broadway-10The blackberry glaze was unique and not overwhelmingly sweet. And the best part of both of these dishes? They were cooked to a perfect medium rare. This is something I find (excuse the pun) quite rare in Oklahoma City. Even a “high end” restaurant like Vast had issues cooking lamb properly. Broadway 10 nailed it.

We were surprised to receive a complimentary dessert with a happy little anniversary message written on it, and even more surprised that their free dessert was incredible!dessert-broadway-10It’s not some cheap, day old chocolate cake. It’s a beautiful little fruit and chocolate parfait. If you can’t tell from the look on my face, I was pretty excited about this.dessert-broadway-10-okcThe service and food was absolutely incredible at Broadway 10. It’s not cheap, but you’re actually getting what you pay for here. The waiters are knowledgeable and attentive, the food is cooked perfectly and unique, and the ambiance is top notch. This is the perfect little place to celebrate an anniversary or birthday in Oklahoma City.
