Pump Bar Brunch & Uptown 23rd St. Farmers Market

August 5, 2016

If you’ve followed me for very long, you’ve probably picked up on the fact that brunch is my favorite meal of the day. Any weekend I get to spend digging into a hearty plate of fried eggs or bacon while sipping on a bucket of mimosas is a good weekend.

On the first and third Sunday of every month, Pump Bar on 23rd Street one ups the brunch game and serves up dishes made fresh with ingredients from local farmers with their Farmers Market brunch. Come early on Sunday to beat the heat and do a lap around the Farmers Market tents and pick out what you want to take home.

If you’re lucky, you might get a little pre-brunch snack. For us, it was Holey Rollers doughnuts.

holey-rollers-okcThis was a banana, chocolate, and sea salt walnut for me, and a raspberry pistachio for Jamie. If you catch this truck out and about, stop by! Their doughnuts are truly unique, incredible, and VEGAN. Yes, vegan. But you would never guess it.

Of course, we had to stop by the booth that was selling dog treats. We got a few peanut butter dog treats for Chuy and the fosters from Bark and Breakfast. And aren’t those bandanas adorable?!

pump-bar-mimosasI got a classic BLT, with my favorite balsamic cherry tomatoes. Crispy bacon and a chewy baguette made for a perfect brunch sandwich.

pump-bar-bltJamie got the breakfast tacos with chorizo. A little greasy, but that’s expected when chorizo is in play. These were topped with a delicious salsa verde. They’re incredibly messy, which makes it easy to avoid sharing (which is always important when you’re eating with me, the person who wants to try everything.)

pump-bar-brunch-tacosWhatever you order at Pump Bar any time of the day, you have to get the tots. They’re crunchy, crispy, burn-your-mouth hot and just delicious. The sauces on the side are crazy good too.

pump-bar-brunch-totsAs the weather starts to cool off, there will be no better time of the year to visit farmers markets around the city. The Uptown 23rd St. Farmers Market takes place on the first and third Sunday of every month until October, with different vendors setting up shop. It’s located on North Walker Avenue between NW 23rd and NW 25th Streets, just outside the Pump Bar patio. There’s parking just in behind Pump Bar and Pizzeria Gusto.

And every Sunday is a wonderful occasion to brunch at Pump! The menu on non Farmers Market Sunday’s is equally delicious, and you just can’t beat that bucket of mimosas.
